Important information - Upcoming maintenance: The CII will be undertaking work on our IT systems throughout the entire weekend of 12-14 October, as part of our strategy to better support our members and customers. The work will mean that during this time there will be no access to the CII/PFS/SMP websites and learners will be unable to take exams, access RevisionMate, or make purchases on these days. We have spoken to all those who have booked to sit an exam on these days to advise them of what action they need to take. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Recruitment process

For each vacant position an up-to-date job description will be available which will set out the main responsibilities of the position and the key attributes required.

An initial assessment of the applicant's skills and abilities is made against the criteria contained in the job description. Those applicants whose skills and experience most closely match those required for the job will then be invited to attend an interview. Presentations, skills/aptitude tests and/or other activities may also form part of the selection process, measurable against objective criteria. A second interview will take place where applicable to the role.

All interviews at the CII are competency based using the CII competency framework:

  • Leadership – we need you to lead yourself and others and to take accountability, regardless of your level, by making a real difference in the work you do. This means delivering results in a visionary, excellent, inclusive and authentic way.
  • Judgement – you to make informed decisions regardless of your level, by making a real difference in the work you do
  • Technical knowledge – your ability to apply, learn, and develop a range of technical capabilities to deliver quality outcomes and decisions regardless of your level, by making a real difference in the work you do
  • Influencing – we need you to embrace building working relationships with your colleagues and customers to deliver quality outcomes and decisions regardless of your level, by making a real difference in the work you do

All selection decisions are based solely on an individual's ability to do the job based on the interview, experience and aptitude tests.

The successful candidate will be sent an offer letter accompanied by the CII's staff handbook and medical questionnaire within 24 hours of the verbal offer being made.

The medical questionnaire is managed by Blossoms Healthcare, our appointed occupational health specialists. It is designed to support the candidate with any reasonable adjustments that may need to be made.

The successful candidate will be required to sign and return the offer letter within seven days and produce proof of right to work in the UK coupled with original documentation of any qualification.

The CII operates a comprehensive induction programme for all new staff. A buddy is assigned to all new joiners. All new joiners are invited to attend an induction day at both our City of London and Customer Service offices.
