Important information - Upcoming maintenance: The CII will be undertaking work on our IT systems throughout the entire weekend of 12-14 October, as part of our strategy to better support our members and customers. The work will mean that during this time there will be no access to the CII/PFS/SMP websites and learners will be unable to take exams, access RevisionMate, or make purchases on these days. We have spoken to all those who have booked to sit an exam on these days to advise them of what action they need to take. We apologise for any inconvenience caused.

Engagement

There are many opportunities for our staff to express and contribute their ideas and views and to engage with the CII.

Below are a few examples of our communication framework used for engaging with our people:

People and Inclusion Group

The People and Inclusion Group plays a key role in supporting the internal communication across the CII group. The group is comprised of staff representatives from across the organisation and representatives of senior management who meet quarterly to discuss business matters and issues raised by CII staff. It provides a means for staff to put forward suggestions or ask questions about the business in confidence. The group is also responsible for delivering key diversity and inclusion initiatives.

As a result, the People and Inclusion Group has been influential in making changes such as introducing recycling and environmental initiatives at the CII. It has also contributed to the development of the CII values, the performance and development process, competency framework and provides feedback to the senior management team on strategy planning.

Investors in People

Investors in People is a national standard for achieving business goals through employee learning, development and communication. The CII were first accredited as an Investor in People in December 2003. In 2005, and November 2008 we were reaccredited as continuing to meet the standard, achieving Investors in People Gold standard in 2011.

Business updates

Quarterly business updates provide a key mechanism for staff to receive updates on our strategic objectives in line with our values, mission and our purpose. This form of communication has been firmly in place for more than ten years and provides staff with an opportunity to receive an update on key strategic and operational developments.

Social committee

We have an active social committee which helps to develop the sense of teamwork that we believe is important in ensuring our continued success. The aim of the CII social committee is to try to run a variety of events during the year, recognising that people have different interests and preferences, but hoping that there will be something for everyone. Since its launch in 2006, we have organised many events, including; summer parties, quiz nights, bowling, London walks, karaoke, ice skating, theatre trips and pantomimes.
