“Achieving Fellowship represented the culmination of a long-term strategic goal within my insurance career. For me, the FCII designation symbolises not only academic achievement but also professional maturity and responsibility within the industry.”

These are the words of Fateh Al Kej, who holds the position of Major Loss Adjuster at a leading GCC based insurance firm. He believes the skills, knowledge and professional recognition gained on his CII qualifications journey, leading to the FCII “gold standard” have proved invaluable.

About his senior role, he explains: “I specialise in handling complex engineering, property, business interruption, and liability claims, particularly within government and sensitive semi-government portfolios. My responsibilities involve leading high value and technically intricate losses from initial notification through to final adjustment, and so it’s a role requiring strategic thinking, strong ethical judgement, and the ability to manage complex, multi-party claims environments with precision and professionalism.”

Fateh’s ambition to attain the CII’s most distinguished accreditation began early, as he enthuses: “From the early stages of my career in insurance and risk management, attaining Fellowship was a clear professional aim. I had observed the credibility and professional stature associated with FCII among respected leaders in the industry and I recognised how it not only demonstrates technical competence but also leadership, ethics, and commitment to professional excellence.

“Achieving ACII was a major accomplishment and from there I set my sights on achieving the Fellowship. The progression from ACII to FCII required fulfilling additional professional and ethical requirements, as well as demonstrating continued commitment to the profession.”

It’s an undisputed fact that the credibility attached to FCII enhances the confidence placed in professionals who attain it by insurers, brokers, and clients, with the designation ensuring prominence and stand-out amongst peers. As Fateh affirms: “It has also accelerated my career progression and brough about many leadership opportunities. Ultimately, the Fellowship has enabled me to deliver higher quality, ethically grounded services to the insurance sector.”

He goes on to conclude: “I am grateful to the CII for providing a qualification framework that upholds the highest global standards in insurance and risk management. Fellowship is more than a designation; it represents responsibility to the profession and to the clients we serve.”
