Craig Norrey
Name: Craig Norrey
Qualifications: Advanced Diploma
Craig Norrey entered the insurance market 13 years ago with no experience of the insurance sector, and he realised from the outset the importance of acquiring relevant technical knowledge. He explains: “The CII was a huge resource to me, providing robust learning materials and ultimately, via me attaining their qualifications, helping me stand out in the market and be able to better advise clients.”
Craig is a part of AES International, a CII International Professional Partner Firm (IPPF), possessing high standards of best practice. The company is dedicated to ensuring its advisers work towards formal qualifications. It was therefore essential for Craig’s own career progression to develop in this area.
As Director of Health & Protection, Craig works with employers to go beyond standard medical insurance, helping businesses identify health risks, build prevention strategies, and protect their people proactively. It's an approach that demands more than product knowledge, and one where the depth of understanding that comes from professional qualifications makes a genuine difference.
He explains: “The knowledge gained from the qualification has meant I am able to have deeper discussions with clients about their risk and possible solutions. This really stands out in a market where the conversations are often more surface-level and transactional.”
Craig studied online, from the FIT test through to the last Advanced Diploma module and was very impressed with the number of resources available to him, managing to balance his studies with his busy role as Director of Health & Protection, as well as family life. He appreciated the additional learning tools that the CII provides, many of which are accessible via RevisionMate, and he would highly recommend attaining a CII qualification. He adds: “The benefits to your personal career development are invaluable, but you will also add incredible value to the company you represent and, of course, to the client experience.”
