This half-day interactive workshop will provide an insight into insurance and the insurance market, including a brief history, an overview of the marketplace, the role of the participants, its processes and procedures.

New entrants to the insurance market and those looking for a refresher.
Workshop objectives
On completion of the workshop delegates will be able to:
- Describe the concept of risk and how it relates to insurance
- Explain the benefits of insurance
- Identify the common types of insurance sold to consumers and commercial customers
- Outline the role of reinsurance in the insurance market
- Describe the key elements of insurance regulation in the UK
- Explain the roles of the insurance market participants including insurers, brokers, aggregators, and loss adjusters
- Outline how risks are placed and underwritten
- Outline how claims are handled
Workshop Format
This workshop is to be delivered online, over a half-day session, via MS Teams, on the 13 March 2025, 13:30 - 16.30 (UK). The workshop will contain a range of visual aids and interactive exercises to explain and help the participants understand insurance.
