The CII's new competency framework gives Chartered firms the perfect opportunity to demonstrate their commitment to nurturing knowledge.

The Professional Map is open to all — you don’t have to be a CII member or an employee of a Chartered firm to access it. We’re encouraging Chartered firms to take a lead in talking to colleagues about how they can use it to:

  • Self-assess their existing competencies
  • Identify future career pathways
  • Prepare for appraisals and development plans
  • Find relevant learning solutions to fill skills gaps

Firms can also utilise the map across their organisation to:

  • Develop standardised job specifications
  • Design competency-based interviews and evaluations
  • Prioritise organisational skills development plans

The map covers not only technical expertise, but also behaviours and skills that are vital to the profession, all defined using customer-centric outcomes.

Look out for invitations to a Chartered Webinar coming soon, in which we will share how you can make sure that your firm is getting the most from this industry-leading framework.
