Helena Evans, head of specialist services at Criterion Adjusters and Graham Stait, head of claims operations at Allianz, have joined the Society of Claims Professionals (SOCP)  board to further serve the needs of those across the whole claims sector.

Launched in January 2019, the SOCP is a community for insurance claims professionals within the Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) that aims to raise the levels of professional knowledge and technical competence, and to assist members in their personal career development at all levels of experience. The society provides market-relevant continuing professional development – including technical and market-issues based articles, analysis, research reports, face to face and online events, seminars and professional and career-path based guidance.

The new appointments will help SOCP to focus on the crucial issue of trust and reputation in the claims sector, and how individual actions can improve public trust in insurance.

Helena Evans said “As a community of professionals, the SOCP provides its members with high quality insight, learning and content. I am particularly delighted to have been asked to become involved with the SOCP. Having been a Loss Adjuster since 1991, I am passionate about the claims profession and showcasing not only the technical side, but the human touch, which is key to the service we provide, to help attract new talent and improve public trust in insurance.”

Graham Stait noted “I’m really pleased with how members have engaged with the SOCP. The breadth and quality of the content made available to our members continues to increase, helping claims professionals to improve their skills and leading to better customer outcomes. I’m personally looking forward to building on the strong relationships with local institutes and ensuring our members continue to have access to relevant resources and first-rate thought leadership. “

Tim Groves, programme development and partnerships manager at the CII, said “The society boards are dedicated and passionate about serving and supporting as many members in the claims sector as possible. These new appointments will enable us to better understand this wider membership as they both bring new and fresh ideas to how we serve.”
