Insurance framework enhancements
We continuously review our qualifications framework to ensure we meet the needs of an evolving profession, whilst equipping our members with the knowledge and expertise to pave a successful career.
Following the latest review, we introduced a range of assessment enhancements which commenced in 2014 and will finalise in 2019. For the full programme of planned changes, download our Changes at a glance leaflet (PDF)
Changes included the phased withdrawal of traditional written examination for the majority of Diploma and Advanced Diploma in Insurance units, replaced by mixed assessment and coursework assessment.
These assessment methods support candidates’ development and application of both academic and work-related knowledge, whilst providing greater flexibility outside the constraints of twice-yearly exam sessions.
April 2018 final written examination
The following units will be assessed by written examination for the final time in April 2018. This supersedes the planned October 2018 session.
- (P90) Cargo and goods in transit insurances
- (P91) Aviation and space insurance
- (P98) Marine hull and associated liabilities
Syllabus review
Please be reminded that the syllabus for the following units are currently under review; any such change will be communicated appropriately and at the earliest opportunity. Written examination will conclude October 2019.
- (P61) Life, critical illness and disability underwriting
- (P62) Life, critical illness and disability claims
- (P63) Long term insurance business
- (P64) Private medical insurance practices
Withdrawal: Certificate in Contract Wording
As we look to streamline our qualification offering whilst growing the study pathways which underpin our qualifications, we have decided to withdraw the Level 4 Certificate in Contract Wording by 31 December 2018.
It is important to note, only the qualification title will be withdrawn from use post 2018. The two core units: (M05) Insurance Law and (M21) Commercial insurance contract wording which combined to award the Certificate, will not be withdrawn from the qualifications framework. Individuals will still be able to undertake these units as part of their Diploma and Advanced Diploma studies.
